The Blue Ridge Chapter of the Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses (AMSN) is a local chapter with members in central Virginia, with the majority of its members in the Lynchburg area. The Blue Ridge Chapter meets every other month in odd-numbered months. The goals of the Blue Ridge Chapter are to promote interest in medical-surgical nursing, provide educational programs for nurses on medical-surgical nursing topics, promote AMSN membership among nursing students, and conduct activities to benefit the community. The Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses is a national professional nursing organization for nurses practicing in the area of adult health/medical-surgical nursing. Blue Ridge Chapter Scholarship!
A $500 scholarship is available to assist nursing students interested in medical-surgical nursing. The deadline for application is April 15.

Save the Date! The Blue Ridge Chapter of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses will sponsor the 5th annual Med-Surg Medley on Friday, September 14, 2012 in the Craddock Auditorium at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, VA. The topics for the seminar will be gerontology and legal/ethical issues.

Blue Ridge Chapter History
The Blue Ridge Chapter was chartered in 1996. It was formed following the efforts of Bonnie Cofflin, RN and Cindy Ward, RNC. The chapter originally was a joint effort between members in the Lynchburg area and those in Roanoke.
