Med-Surg Medley:
Date: October 9
Nursing Contact Hours application: Cindy met with Caryn Brown, who is our nurse planner for Med-Surg Medley. Caryn will be working with Cindy to make sure the Nursing Contact Hour application form is completed correctly. A Biographical Data Form needs to be completed by each planner and speaker. As of tonight, all of the planner forms are completed. Only one speaker form has been received. The deadline for submitting everything to Caryn is Sept. 3. Cindy needs everything by August 20 in order to complete the application.
Speakers: Mary Lee, RD has accepted, and will speak on carb counting. Juanita will contact the massage therapist. Karen will contact the pharmacist.
Vendors: Lilly is providing lunch. Lantus and Abbott are willing to help, Juanita will ask them about afternoon beverages and snacks. Dr. Mulinda works for Lilly. The Nursing Contact Hour application form will need to have the conflict of interest section completed to reflect this support from sponsors.
Email list: Cindy received a list of all AMSN members in the state from the national office. Susan and Caroline will work on putting this in an email list. The flyer will be sent out by email to save cost.
Flyer: Once the other speakers are confirmed, the flyer is ready to be sent out. The goal for sending the flyer out is August 15.

Upcoming meetings: Planning meeting for Med-Surg Medley August 12 6 pm at La Carretta. The September meeting location will be decided at the August meeting.

AMSN Convention: The annual convention will be held Sept 9 - 13 in Washington, D.C.

New Business:

Election of Officers: Judy Ward is moving into the President position.
Nominations: Cindy Ward was nominated to continue as secretary. Melissa Motley was nominated to continue as treasurer.
A question came up of whether the length of term is one year or two years. Do we need to elect a president-elect this year? A decision was tabled until next meeting. Congratulations: Cindy Ward was congratulated for becoming certified as a clinical nurse specialist in adult health.
