    1. Identify congressional committees evaluating legislation related to health care.
    2. Discuss legislation related to nursing or health care.

  2. The participant will be able to give examples of how to find information about federal legislation.
    1. Show websites used to search for bills in Senate and House
    2. Show websites used to search for state legislative information

  3. The participant will express how nurses can become involved in the legislative process.
    1. How to make your voice be heard

  1. Introduce NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Hospitalized Elders) and PACE (Program of All Inclusive Care of the Elders) Concepts.
  2. Review the history of positive outcomes with NICHE program implementation at a state and national level.
  3. Discuss collaboration necessary between Centra and the community to launch and sustain these programs.
  4. Share time lines of implementation and best practice concepts.
  5. Involve small focus groups in networking to support and serve as advocates for program development.
